RTB celebrates the graduation of over 500 Work Readiness Trainees

This Friday, 22nd September 2023, Rwanda celebrated the graduation of 526 Work Readiness Trainees in Hospitality and Tourism Sector. They were trained through Ubukerarugendo Imbere Project, under the Support of the European Union.

This was after going through a 6months intensive programme offered in collaboration with Akazi Kanoze Access, a Rwandan organization with a mission to provide youth with employability skills, access to capital and other support services to take advantage of economic opportunities.

In his speech, the Director General of Rwanda TVET Board, Dipl.-Ing. Paul UMUKUNZI, said that Rwanda as country with about 60% of the population being the young, there is need for increased job creation but also skills to be able to excel in the job market.

 He added that the Work Readiness Training goes beyond just providing the youth with Jobs but also skills like language proficiency, improved entrepreneurship, improved financial literacy, and how one interacts with banks, as well as dealing with reputable financial institutions.

The graduation event was graced by The Minister of State for Education, Hon. Claudette Irere and the EU Ambassador to Rwanda, Hon. Belen Calvo Uyarra

All 526 graduates awarded certificates to not only acknowledges their accomplishment but also solidifies their preparedness for the professional world of work.
