Rwanda Coding Academy
Located in Nyabihu District, Western Province, Rwanda Coding academy (RCA) is a special model school targeting and training students with a keen interest in pursuing coding as a career. It was established in 2019 by the Government of Rwanda with a special mission to train young talented and gifted Rwandans in software programing, promote quality and excellence in coding skills and to position Rwanda as software development talent hub.
The school came to respond to the recommendations of the “Rwanda Digital Talent Policy” as approved by the Cabinet in April 2018; that calls for initiatives to strengthen a framework of ICT training and qualification in Rwanda, placing emphasis on hands-on and market oriented ICT skills, specifically introducing software programming to learners at elementary levels in order to address current shortages of software developers on market.
Rwanda Coding academy opened gates on February 4th, 2019 with a total of 60 students undertaking a three year course in software engineering but the intention of the GoR is to have atleast one (1) coding academy in each province which will enable an enrollment of 300 students every year.
Nyundo School of Music
Currently located in Muhanga, Southern Province, Nyundo School of music was established in 2014 to promote and professionalize the art industry in Rwanda. The overall objective of the school is to create professionals, who will transform the country’s music industry. The institution is supported by the government. The school teaches vocal music, use of instruments (drums, piano, guitar, wind instruments, percussion and local instruments), music theory, production, entrepreneurship, languages, and music history, among others. The school will soon introduce the courses of film writing and production, drama writing, dancing.
The first intake graduated in 2017 with 29 graduates and the number has now grown to 80 graduates from three intakes. In a bid to further revolutionize the music industry, the GoR through RTB is now intending for the school to open doors to other African Countries.
