Rwanda to establish TVET Centres of Excellence in every District

The Ministry of Education through the Rwanda TVET Board (RTB) has kicked off the activities related to the establishment of TVET Centres of Excellence (CoEs) in all 30 districts of the country.

The commitment to establish the TVET CoE in Rwanda was reiterated On Wednesday. 18th January, 2023, in workshop aimed at discussing the project expectation, objectives and operational strategies for the future of the TVET Centres of Excellence. The event was graced by the Minister of State in Charge of ICT and TVET, Hon, Claudette Irere.

Presenting about the project scope and background, the Director General of RTB, Dipl.-Ing. Paul UMUKUNZI, said that TVET Centres of Excellence will serve as role model for the rest of the schools in Districts in different aspects that include but not limited to modern Training Facilities and Quality TVET delivery.

 “The schools will be tailored to meet what the districts want to achieve, the major projects that are in the country as well as the skills needed by private sector personnel.” He added.

The TVET Centres of Excellences are going to be established following the funds secured from the Korea Exim Bank. Through this project some schools will be built, others expanded while those with existing infrastructures will be provided with modern technology equipment.
