RTB UNVEILS PHASE TWO OF 'ONE LAPTOP PER TRAINER' INITIATIVE
Rwamagana, 28 November 2023 – The Rwanda TVET Board (RTB), in partnership with Luxembourg Aid and Development through LuxDev, has launched the second phase of the transformative "One Laptop Per TVET Trainer" initiative. This phase will see 3,000 TVET teachers from public and government-aided schools equipped with laptops.
Building on the success of the initial rollout in 2021, where RTB collaborated with various stakeholders to provide laptops to 2,586 teachers, the aim now is to empower a total of 7,000 teachers by the year 2024.
Eng. Paul UMUKUNZI, expressing the significance of the initiative, stated, "This effort goes beyond narrowing the digital divide. It encompasses a comprehensive plan to ensure reliable Internet connections for TVET schools. By seamlessly integrating technology into the educational landscape, programs like these aim to cultivate excellence in knowledge acquisition, particularly within the technology sector."
The alignment of this initiative with advancements in technology and education is poised to make a substantial impact on the progress of TVET in Rwanda.
