RTB signs contract with hotels to host Ubukerarugendo Imbere project's Industrial Based Training

Rwanda TVET Board has signed contracts with 16 hotels that will host the Industrial Based Training (IBT) trainees through Ubukerarugendo Imbere Project. The training will be conducted over a period of 9month.

The contract was signed during a Workshop held on Friday, 10th June 2022 at Ste Famille Hotel with the aim of engaging the private sector in the implementation of Ubukerarugendo Imbere project.

It brought together TVET School Managers, Hotel General Managers, Food and Beverage Managers, Executive Housekeepers, Executive Chef, Front Office Managers from 16 selected hotels that will host trainees for Industrial Based Training.

In his remarks, DG RTB, Dipl.-Ing. Paul UMUKUNZI said that to address the issue of skills gap in the Tourism and Hospitality sector in Rwanda, there is a need for close collaboration between the private sector and Hospitality & Tourism training institutions.

“It is therefore the reason why RTB through UBUKERARUGENDO IMBERE project, The Private Sector Federation (PSF) represented by the Chamber of Tourism and other stakeholders will support the Industrial Based Training and long lasting partnerships between tourism and hospitality companies and TVET schools” He said.

He added that the expectations after Industrial Based Training are highly skilled graduates (trainees) meeting expectation on the labor market, bridging the existing skills gap in the industry and increased job opportunities.

‘Ubukerarugendo Imbere’ is a project initiated through a partnership agreement between the European Union and Government of Rwanda to improve market-oriented skills of the youth in Tourism and Hospitality sector in Rwanda.
