RTB, RP AND DEVELOPMENT PARTNERS HOLD TVET SUB-SECTOR WORKING GROUP MEETING

This Thursday, June 30, 2022, Rwanda TVET Board (RTB) in collaboration with Rwanda Polytechnic (RP) and TVET Development Partners held a TVET Sub-Sector Working Group Meeting.

The quarterly meeting at Park Inn Hotel is an opportunity for all TVET partners and stakeholders to look back on achievements and weight progress against pre-defined targets and make new commitments for improvement.

Opening the meeting officially, the Director-General of RTB, Dipl-.Ing Paul UMUKUNZI recognized all participants for their contribution to making the TVET skills development possible and their valuable support in addressing the most critical skills needs of the youth in Rwanda.

He said that a lot has been done in the previous quarter and also there is a lot to be done in more years to come, noting that there is a need for multiple efforts to make the TVET sector in Rwanda a success by having complementary actions.

“Complementarity in the whole TVET value chain from school construction and equipment, training, ToT, students’ graduation up to their employment. We call upon our DPs to help in this by harmonizing their action plans to attain a remarkable impact in TVET.” He said.

UMUKUNZI also came back on the importance of the TVET Sub-Sector Working Group saying that it should be a platform where all the obstacles met are discussed and new initiatives that are crucial in skills development presented.

“These initiatives must be contributing towards the attainment of our common goal and national agenda like NST1 targets.” He added.

During the meeting, all TVET Development Partners were allowed to talk about their current interventions and planned activities for 2022-2023. They were advised to work together to avoid activity duplication.
