RTB receives a donation worth 100 million Rwandan Francs from MTN and IHS

This Wednesday, 24th August 2022, Rwanda TVET Board has received a contribution worth 100,000,000 Frw from MTN Rwanda in partnership with IHS Rwanda, that will be used in facilitating the establishment of 10 computer labs in TVET schools across the country.

The contribution is part of MTN Foundation "School Digitization" Program launched last year, where 10 computer labs were established in 10 TVET schools.

In his welcome remarks, DG RTB, Dipl.-Ing Paul UMUKUNZI, commended MTN and IHS for their contribution in skills development through ICT which opens doors of many youths in TVET to the digital World and uplift their computer literacy levels.

“This is the 2nd time MTN Rwanda is providing laptops to RTB, which indicates a high level of commitment in promoting digitalisation of the Rwandan TVET sector. Your help in connecting some schools to unlimited internet is worth appreciating. He added.

Speaking on the School Digitalization Program, Mukarubega Zulfat, MTN Foundation Chairperson of the Board said that they are on the firm belief that technology is no longer a luxury but a necessity.

"It is therefore important that students have access to computers and internet connectivity to help them advance in their studies and participate in this modern connected life." She said.

Kunle Iluyemi,  IHS Rwanda Managing Director said that the company has been a dedicated partner of MTN working together to provide mobile connectivity to #Rwanda and several other African markets.

“On behalf of IHS Rwanda, I am delighted to advance that partnership to support their sustainability programs and further contribute to our communities. We are committed to supporting digital literacy and equal access to education.” He concluded.

Through MTN Rwanda, IHS Rwanda and Rwanda TVET Board partnership, a total of 200 laptops will be donated to TVET Schools coupled with the provision of one-year free internet connectivity.
